ABOUT uS
The story of Hamilton Apiaries began when I, Andrew Hamilton, was a little boy growing up and working on my grandparent’s commercial bee farm in East-Central Saskatchewan. Honey flows through my veins; I’m an 8th generation beekeeper and my family has been beekeeping in Canada for 4 generations.
Determined to continue the beekeeping tradition in the Hamilton family, in 2014 I built a CFIA-certified honey house just outside of Regina. Our honey comes from a variety of floral sources including canola, alfalfa and wild flowers like wolf willow, wild berries, sweet clover and goldenrod. With the variety of flowers the state of the blooms on the apiary vary continuously. Our bees are a cross breed of several varieties. We see something we like or that has been spoken highly of and try it out. We'll mix new breeds into our existing stock, making our hives robust and resilient. Perfect for Saskatchewan. We operate six-hundred colonies, each with between 10,000 and 75,000 bees in them. In addition to the homemade honey and honey products, we also offer tours and workshops by request during the spring and summer months. They're perfect for class field trips and enthusiast groups. Please contact us for cost and availability. |
We also offer bumble bee and wasp removal for the surrounding area so you can save yourself the hassle. Wasps are destroyed but bumble bee nests are salvaged and brought out to the farm to live out the season in a rural setting. Contact us for time frames and cost for removal services.
My plans for the future are to provide a reliable source of bees and equipment for southern Saskatchewan beekeepers. We love this lifestyle and what we do. I hope Hamilton Apiaries can meet all your honey, honey product and apiary needs. |
